Seldom do we find a place that is named after our inner beast. Bakasur is definitely one place that we all can relate to, both in its name and the food that it serves. Located in a prime vicinity, this place offers one of the best buffet for people who love desi cuisine.
The ambience is nice and cosy. It has a typical buffet seating arrangements. We were given our complimentary mocktails as soon as we sat down. We got to choose from a list and they were pretty good. Then, we were introduced to their menu and we began our dinner. The staff were surely friendly and helped us with our orders and selections.
I loved the spread of items that they offered. There was chicken kebab, fish fry, mutton seek and many more non vegetarian items. The vegetarians had their chats, salads, and savories.
The main course was good too. There were breads, gravies, biryanis and rice varieties for all kinds of eaters. I have to admit that the best part was surely the desserts. There were all kinds of desi desserts like the shahi tukda, jalebi, rabdi as well as ice creams.
This place is surely a value for money and I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If you are a large crowd with different likes, this is your destination.
The New BEL Road has many options when it comes to food. After having tried almost all of them, we went to this place called Gilly’s. The place is rated very high on all food apps. So, we thought it’s gonna be a fun day. But to be honest, the ambience itself was a letdown. Hygiene is something that I look for in a place I eat out at. This place surely lacked cleanliness. No that it was completely messy, but you know when a place isn’t well maintained.
We got a table that was overlooking the road. The view was pleasant. But I will have to say this, the service was the worst. There were no people to take orders and the orders taken were not served until we reminded them of it at least a couple of times. We had to wait fifteen minutes to get drinking water! That too when the place was almost empty with no other people to attend to. That really was not a nice thing.
Coming to the food, we had ordered chicken kolar, creamy spicy chicken and chicken tandoor. Food was okay, nothing extraordinary. The fact that the orders were brought in late had killed our appetite. So, we didn’t find them much tasty. The chocolate volcano dessert was the only saving grace as it was yumm.
I give this place a 2.5 out of 5 stars. Visit if you want a laid back lunch.
If any day you feel like flying in the sky and touch the clouds, I know where you have to be. Well, you do not actually get to fly among the clouds, but you can have a closer look at them. High ultra-lounge is on the 31st floor of the tall World Trade Centre building. To be precise, it is 421ft above the ground level. This makes High the tallest dining space in the entire south India. Hmmm… that is very interesting.
When a place boasts of so many things, I have to be there. So, we were there on a Saturday for a leisure lunch. Ho, the entry! It’s so dramatic. There is a special glass elevator (yup, the Willi Wonka types) that takes you 31 floors above Bangalore. That ladies and gentlemen, is a sight worth all the money you paid for your lunch. You swish up through an amazing view and most of the city is well below you, visible to the naked eye. Once you are up there, you are welcomed by the friendly staff who seat you in comfortable tables. the ambiance is bright, sunny, outdoorish and there is a lot of space to move around and make yourself comfortable anywhere you want.
The entire lounge is separated with various seating arrangements and themes. There is indoor, outdoor, bar and lounge kind of arrangements and you can pick where you like to sit. Sometimes, if the place is crowded, then you will be allotted a table by the staff which is not cool. Who would want to be seated inside a lame room when you can sit by the huge glass windows that have a magnificent view? Always opt for the outdoor tables when you dine here.
The welcome drinks were basic and not much appealing. The cuisine is basically Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai. South Asian to be specific. so, everyone will not like High. We ordered chicken wonton soup which consisted of chicken, cabbage, mushrooms and carrots. It was a spicy, delicious hot soup. A good beginning, we all thought. Then came the starters. Sushi, prawn tempura, chicken satay, sweet corn with coriander butter, spicy cilantro chicken and others. The sushi was good. Sweet corn butter was yummy. The chicken was ordinary.
I’ll have to say that the main course was a big disappointment. Except for the Thai Green Vegetable Curry, nothing is worth remembering. Coming to my favourite part, the dessert – you must try their Banoffee pie. It is just mind-blowing. The other things like pastries and ice creams are good, but do not deserve any special mention.
All in all, this place is a must visit if you love heights and are looking for a romantic dinner with your spouse. The place is expensive, so save it for special occasions. I’ll give a 4 out of 5 for the ambiance, but a 3 for the food and service.
On a dull winter evening, the best thing that you can do is grab your coat, call your friends and head out to the Brewsky. It is one of the first microbreweries in the city and attracts a large crowd, especially during the night. The place is on the top of the building and gives you a breathtaking view of the well-lit Bangalore city. A floor below, there is a closed room seating facility, but much of the crowd and excitement is on the rooftop. It is recommended that you book your table in advance to avoid waiting at the entrance.
As you enter the place, the chilled wind embraces you and takes you into a relaxed and fun mood. There are two levels on the roof top and you can opt for either. A large screen will be playing the live matches of the day. Seating is sort of old school because they use these old metal chairs that were a norm during the 90’s. Service is good and pretty fast in spite of so many people. You get delicious american and continental food both vegetarian and non – vegetarian.
Must try in Brewsky –
Thin crust pizza
Grilled Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce
Goan crumb fried chicken
Philly chicken burger
The place is energetic, yet relaxing. If you want to beat your weekday blues, this is one highly recommended place. And this might sound a bit crazy, but I have to mention it – they have the cutest dressing table in the ladies washroom. It is all pink, classic and regal looking. Not just that piece of furniture, everything about Brewsky is good looking and nice. The food, the ambiance and the service, everything gets a 4.6 out of five stars.
There were many places in Bangalore to begin a blog with. I just chose one randomly and if you visit this place, you will know why. Fenny’s is a Rooftop pub that is all together a new world in the middle of the city. As you give your car for Valet Parking and take this small elevator to the 3rd floor of the building, you can never know that there is this beautiful place awaiting you. Nightlife is redefined by this wonderfully done place that is a combination of Mediterranean and continental concept. Burning candles, clay pots, broken mirrors and artistically arranged beer bottles are the high light of the place. One more thing that you will admire about the place is that the music is low so that what you speak with your friends is audible. The outdoor seating arrangement is comfortable and there is a separate smoking Area too. The bar counter is open for one and all and you can choose to sit where you please
The food is something that will stay in your heart long after you have visited this place. They serve the best starters and pizzas in the town. Some of the stuff you must really try out here are –
Thin crust wood fire pizzas
Fenny’s bbq prawns
thin crust pizza
They also have some interesting desserts. The staff are friendly and attend to you with much care. Over all, the experience of a dinner at Fenny’s is warm and nice. It is a four out of five stars.
