If there is one best place for lunch with your friends on a dreary afternoon on St. Marks road, then it must be in The Open Box. It had everything that I look forward in a place to eat out – an interesting name, pleasant ambience, rooftop seating and friendly staff. The open box is on one of the busiest streets in Bangalore. Yet, it has retained a relaxed atmosphere that will cool you down instantly as you take your seat.

The ambience is colorful and interesting. I especially liked their world map on a wall. There are anchors hanging down the ceiling and comfortable tables. The glass windows may not give you a real view of the city because of the crowded neighborhood, but it surely gives you enough sunlight and wind.

We ordered the drinks Duo of melon and ginger. It was a very nice drink with sharp taste of the ginger. Quite a good choice for the summer. For food, we chose wings 65. It was love at first sight because the chicken 65 came in an attractive tea glasses holder. I loved their plating techniques for all the food that followed. What’s more, the 65 was absolutely delicious. Then came the chicken naan sense. It was chicken peri peri served on a bed of chilli naan. I had never tasted a desi version of pizza which looked beautiful, and tasted heavenly.

Main course was chicken biryani 65. Three words – mom liked it. So, it had to be good. I loved how they brought it in a pressure cooker. The tiny snacks that came along were also nice. The biryani was just amazing.

We skipped dessert in this place, but I’ll soon be going back for some more good food and try out their desserts. I give this place a 4 out of 5 stars. Loved their ambience, service and food.

Had heard a lot about this place, so couldn’t wait to go here. It was a Saturday noon. We had run late and it was already their closing time. I called for reservations and the staff was very courteous telling that they would reserve a table.

Tim Tai is one of the many fine eateries that you can find in Koramangala. It is a Deli that serves pan Asian cuisine and that’s what got me interested. The place is very colourful and cheery. Right from the board that’s set up in the beginning to the walls inside the place, everything is so bright and colourful. There is a lot of pink, yellow and green to make the place look fun and interesting. The ambience is surely the USP of this place.

We were given a comfortable table and as it was a Saturday, I was having a vegetarian lunch (sigh!!!) with my sisters. The staff were extra friendly and love places where the people smile, aren’t rude and help you out by suggesting what to eat. This is one such place.

We ordered apricot glazed cauliflower in noodle basket just because it sounded so beautiful. The noodle basket never came, but the cauliflowers were pretty good. They had this sweet tinge from the apricots. Then came the tofu chilli pepper with five spice salt. May be, the name had all the salt and that’s why it was missing in the dish. Could have added some more salt to please our Indian taste buds. For main course there was Thai chilli basil noodles. This thing was very oily. Also the essence of basil was too much. To go with it, we ordered tofu on wilted spinach with hot basil sauce. Again the thing was very oily. Dessert was a simple chocolate walnut brownie with vanilla ice-cream. This was the best thing that I ate that day.

Do not know if we ordered wrong or whether this place is only for non- vegetarian food, but I’ll have to say that I was a bit disappointed with the food. It was way too oily. Should try some seafood the next time. Will give it a 3 stars out of 5.
